Hardox® 500

Higher hardness for severe sliding abrasion.

What is Hardox® 500?

Hardox® 500 is the workhorse grade for severe abrasion. At 500 HBW it resists sliding wear in screens, hammers, knives and liners where a 450 HBW grade changes out too often. It trades some toughness for hardness, so impact duty needs careful grade selection.

Properties below follow the official SSAB® datasheet and product program. For stock and lead time in Egypt, ask BSF.

Hardness
500 HBW nominal
Impact toughness
37 J at -40 C (typical)
Plate thickness
4 to 103 mm
Sheet thickness
2.0 to 7.0 mm
Delivery condition
Quenched or quenched and tempered

Where Hardox® 500 is used

Typical applications from SSAB®'s published material, and the matching BSF application pages.

  • Recycling screen panels and bar grates
  • Hammer mill hammers and impact parts
  • Knife and shear blade rebuilds
  • Dredging cutter rebuilds
  • High-abrasion liners in cement and quarry plants
